Yago set for first FUT Champions Cup of the season

Yago qualifies for FUT Champions Cup Stage I

West Ham United eSports player ‘Yago' Gabriel Fawaz will be going for glory in a Claret and Blue shirt this weekend as he represents the Club at the first FUT Champions Cup event of the 2019/20 season.

Taking place from Friday to Sunday in Bucharest, Romania, Yago and 63 other competitors will be looking to win the first marquee event in the FIFA 20 calendar, with prize money and Global Series points on offer to the winner.

In doing so, the winner will take a decisive step towards qualification for the 2020 eFIFA World Cup in July 2020, the most prestigious competition in football gaming, which the 64 players (per console) with the most Global Series points qualify for towards the end of the campaign.

Argentinean eSports player Yago joined the Hammers this summer along with ‘Jas’ Singh, and qualified for this weekend’s FUT Champions Cup Stage I in a thrilling play-off last month, winning one of only four spots available to players based in South America.

23 different nations will be represented at this weekend’s tournament, which is structured into a group stage and a knock-out round. 2,000 Global Series points will be granted to the winner, with just over that number last season needed to qualify for the finals tournament.

Fellow PlayStation competitors Yago could come across this weekend include the reigning FIFA world champion, Mo Auba, and last season’s runner-up, Vitality Maestro.

You can follow how Yago gets on at the FUT Champions Cup Stage 1 – along with all the live scores – on the EA SPORTS FIFA website. Fixtures commence at 1pm on Friday 8 November.

If you’re a FIFA player and dream of representing the Hammers this year, remember that you can now register for the ePremier League through the competition's website.
