Arnautovic: It’s a perfect home finish

Marko Arnautovic declared West Ham United’s 3-0 victory over Southampton as the perfect way to sign off at home.

The Hammers backed up their win at Tottenham last week in style, putting three past the Saints to complete a double over their visitors from the South Coast.

Arnautovic’s double, netted either side of the break, ended his wait for a goal and took his tally for the campaign to double figures.

For the No7, the only better script he could have written would have included a hat-trick goal - not that he minded too much.

“It was nice to finish at home like this,” he explained. “We trained hard the whole week and the manager kept saying to us that we needed to win this game.

“We knew the fans wanted to see that and we played a great game. We won 3-0, we’re very happy and I think the fans are also.

“We played very well, defensively, in midfield and attacking-wise.  We created a lot of chances and 3-0 is nice, but it’s not the end - there’s still one more to go.

“I don’t remember when I last scored a hat-trick, so when I got two goals I wanted a third as well! I’m happy for the team to win 3-0 in the last game at home. It’s perfect.”
