On This Day: Cole nets superb team goal in Wigan win

Take a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Basset & Gold.

One of West Ham United's best ever Premier League goals was scored on this day ten years ago, when Carlton Cole finished a superb team move to give the Irons the win over Wigan Athletic.

Led by Gianfrano Zola, the Hammers claimed the 1-0 victory thanks to a brilliant piece of play. Scott Parker started the move, playing the ball to David Di Michele. The Italian immediately laid the ball off to Mark Noble, who returned it with a first-time pass.

Di Michele then found Cole on the edge of the box, with the striker curling home an excellent first-time effort. It was truly one of West Ham's great Premier League goals, and you can watch it back in the video player above.
