Lanzini: We need to take this goalscoring form into the season

Manuel Lanzini is backing West Ham United to take their free-flowing football into the new season after the Irons came from behind to secure an entertaining 5-3 win over Hertha Berlin.

The German side took the lead three times in Wednesday's match but it would be the Hammers that eventually ran out victors. Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller both got their first goals for the Club while Lanzini smashed home a superb finish in the first half, making the game 2-2.

It was good to win. It's good for us and we know that we need to be ready for Manchester City.

Grady Diangana and Michail Antonio secured a great result in the second half and the Jewel of West Ham's midfield says the team has the capability of continuing their fine form in front of goal into the Premier League campaign.

"Today was good," Lanzini told whufc.com. "We played well. Sometimes it went for us, sometimes it didn't. We need to work on it in this case. We need to keep going like this.

"It was good to win. It's good for us and we know that we need to be ready for Manchester City."

The finish in Austria against Hertha Berlin was Lanzini's second in as many pre-season matches, after the 26-year-old curled a superb winner in the 1-0 victory at Fulham on Saturday.

The No10 feels he is feeling the benefits of a full pre-seaosn training schedule. Having missed last summer and much of the 2018/19 season due to injury. Lanzini is looking forward to kicking-off the new campaign with West Ham.

He continued: "I think my pre-season has gone very well. I've been training hard. I said in an interview while in Switzerland that it's been a long time since I've done a full pre-season, so this is good for me after my long injury.

"It's good. I've been preparing for this. Of course, I need to work harder and harder, but I think I'm going well and I always want to be 100 per cent prepared for the new season."
