Felipe Anderson shortlisted for Player of the Month award

Felipe Anderson has been shortlisted for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for December.

West Ham United’s Brazil international winger was in superb form as the Hammers put together the best month in the club’s 25-year Premier League history.

The No8 scored four goals and assisted another as the Irons won five times in seven games to collect 15 points and rise into the top half of the table.

All four came in victories, with Felipe Anderson netting in the 3-0 win at Newcastle United, the winner in the 3-2 home success against Crystal Palace and both goals as the Hammers came from behind to win 2-1 at Southampton.

The assist was also important as it set up Robert Snodgrass’s opener in the 2-0 win at Fulham.

In addition, the 25-year-old’s defensive contribution should not be underestimated as he put in 13 tackles, winning nine of them, made nine interceptions and helped the Hammers keep clean sheets at St James’ Park and Craven Cottage.

The club-record signing has strong competition for the award, however, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Tottenham Hotspur pair Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also shortlisted.

The winner will be announced at 1pm on Friday 11 January 2019.
