Lehmann: Hopefully we can keep our momentum up

Alisha Lehmann has backed West Ham United to continue their good run in Wednesday's Women's Super League clash with Reading FC. 

The Irons head into the midweek match on the back of two SSE Women's FA Cup wins, which has put Matt Beard's team into the quarter-finals of the prestigious competition. 

Next up for the Hammers is a trip to sixth-placed Reading, and West Ham can jump over the Royals in the league table with a win on Wednesday. 

Hopefully we can keep the momentum up and keep winning games. We want to stay on an up and we need to play at our best to do that on Wednesday.

Lehmann, who scored in Sunday's 7-1 win over Huddersfield Town, is feeling confident ahead of the Reading test. 

"I'm really excited for this game," the Swiss international told whufc.com. "We played against them at the start of the season and it will be good to test ourselves against them for the second time. 

"We're in a good moment. We won well on Sunday, which puts the entire team in a very good mood. Hopefully we can keep the momentum up and keep winning games. We want to stay on an up and we need to play at our best to do that on Wednesday."

West Ham took on Reading at Rush Green Stadium in the side's first ever FA WSL fixture, and Lehmann believes the team's growth since thst September match has been unbelievable.

The No7 is looking forward to testing herself again against the Royals on Wednesday.

She added: "I think we have made some big steps since that game. We are really playing as a team and everything has really come together in that time for us. We think as a unit in our games. 

"Reading will have also made a step forward as well, and they are a good side. But we're in a good place and I'm sure, if we play at our best, we can get the win."
