West Ham United to pay tribute to Martin Peters MBE at Leicester City match

West Ham United will pay tribute to the late, great Martin Peters MBE at Saturday’s Premier League fixture with Leicester City at London Stadium.

Tributes to the Hammers and England legend, 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup winner and 1966 FIFA World Cup final hero will begin pitchside at approximately 5.15pm – 15 minutes before the scheduled 5.30pm kick-off.

The family of the Academy of Football graduate will be joined by members West Ham’s victorious FA Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup-winning sides, including World Cup final hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, 1964 FA Cup final matchwinner Ronnie Boyce, Brian Dear, Ken Brown and Eddie Bovington.

Brian Dear and Sir Geoff Hurst will pay their own personal tributes to the visionary midfielder, while a video montage will also be played on big screens, before the guests of honour welcome the teams to the pitch.

A floral shirt tribute will be carried out to centre spot before the referee David Coote’s whistle signals the start of a one-minute applause in celebration of the achievements of one of West Ham and England’s finest-ever players.

The Official Programme will also feature tributes to a man who made 364 appearances in Claret and Blue, scoring exactly 100 goals and creating many more.
