Martin Peters: Tributes from Sir Geoff Hurst and Roberta Moore

Martin Peters

Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.

Three names that will forever be etched in the history of West Ham United, as the greatest products of the famed Hammers Academy and key figures in the club’s glory days of the mid-1960s, before they reached the pinnacle of the game together by leading England to World Cup glory at Wembley in 1966.

Following the tragic news of Martin’s passing earlier today at the age of 76, we received the following messages from Sir Geoff and Bobby’s daughter Roberta…

Sir Geoff Hurst said: “I am so saddened to hear that Martin passed away this morning. He will be remembered as a great player for both club and country. Our thoughts and love are with Kathy, Lee, Grant, Hannah and Meg.”

Roberta Moore said: “Deeply saddened to hear that Martin Peters passed away this morning and my thoughts are very much with Kathy and all his family. Martin was a most gentle and kind man, and great friend and team-mate of my father’s. He will be much missed.”
