On This Day: Diafra Sakho signs for West Ham United

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Basset & Gold....

It was on this day five years ago that Diafra Sakho arrived in east London.

A prolific goalscorer in France with Metz, where he starred in the second and third tiers, Senegal-born Sakho arrived at the Boleyn Ground as a virtual unknown to West Ham United supporters.

The striker scored on his first start for the Hammers in an EFL Cup tie with Sheffield United before equaling a Premier League record by scoring on his first six starts.

To mark the anniversary of his signing, here you can enjoy arguably Sakho's most-memorable goal in Claret and Blue again, his strike against Manchester United in the Final Game at the Boleyn Ground in May 2016.

Basset & Gold are West Ham United's official sleeve sponsor and eSports partner.
