U23s' Premier League International Cup opponents set

West Ham United's U23s will face opposition from England, Germany and Spain in the group stages of their Premier League International Cup campaign.

Tuesday's draw pitted the Hammers against fellow Premier League 2 side Brighton & Hove Albion, German team Wolfsburg and Spanish giants Valencia.

This is Valencia'a first involvement in the competition since the 2016/17, while Wolfsburg are regulars in the International Cup and were unfortunate not to progress past the group stages last season, having finished second in Group B but not securing a place as one of the two-best group runners-up.

The Hammers, meanwhile, kicked-off the 2018/19 edition by defeating reigning champions Porto, but were then defeated by Dinamo Zagreb and Southampton as their campaign ended at the first hurdle.

The competition, which brings together Premier League 2 academies with Europe's elite, will comprise six four-team groups, with each team playing their group opponents twice.

All matches will be played in the United Kingdom, either at the home ground of the Premier League side or at neutral venues, and full fixture details will be confirmed in due course.
