West Ham United forward Xande Silva has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month Award for August.

Xande Silva, who joined the Club in the summer from Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, has wasted little time in settling into life with the U23s, netting five goals in his first three Premier League 2 games.

The 21-year-old scored a hat-trick on debut as the Hammers defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the season opener, following that with goals against Manchester City and Arsenal before the month was out.

His performances caught the eye of opposing managers, whose nomination of the best displays against their sides help form the Premier League’s Football Development Panel’s shortlist.

Xande Silva is up against Brighton & Hove Albion duo Aaron Connolly and Victor Gyokeres, Chelsea’s Tariq Lamptey, Layton Ndukwu of Leicester City, Manchester City youngster Nabil Touaizi Zoubdi, Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes, Reading’s Danny Loader and Luke Molyneux of Sunderland.

The winner will be announced on Monday 10 September.
