Roberta Moore celebrates finishing the Fun Run

West Ham United Foundation and the Moore Family Foundation will join forces to host the third annual Moore Family Fun Run this coming Sunday 14 October - and places are still available to take part!

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will come alive with both runners and spectators on the day, with something to keep everyone entertained.

Participants have the choice to complete a 10k, 5k or 1k route around the iconic Olympic Park, with runners raising funds for the Moore Family Foundation’s support of vulnerable primary and secondary school pupils across Essex and east London.

It is a great day for every member of the family with lots of atmosphere and camaraderie – there is so much to see and enjoy on the way round the course

Moore Family Foundation founder Roberta Moore, daughter of Hammers legend Bobby, is excited for this year’s run and the support it gives to the charity: “Following the success and growing support of the Fun Run, we are all looking forward to this year’s event. We hope that as many as people as possible will join us in October and make it our best and most successful event.

“It is a great day for every member of the family with lots of atmosphere and camaraderie – there is so much to see and enjoy on the way round the course, including some cracking fancy dress outfits courtesy of some of the runners, and all for such a great cause!”

Established in 2014 in memory of the late, great West Ham and England captain, the Moore Family Foundation has already provided life-changing opportunities for some 18,000 students in Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Thurrock and Tower Hamlets.

Mentors from the Foundation have supported the most vulnerable of pupils with literacy and numeracy skills, while the children have also experienced life-changing opportunities, such as visits to London Stadium to experience an authentic Hammers matchday for themselves.

The programme aims to engage with a further 1,000 young people across the 2018/19 academic year, helping to support and equip the most vulnerable of young people to engage more positively in education and lead successful lives.

As well as the walk or run, there will be lots of fun for the whole family on the day, including inflatable penalty shootouts, face painting, Bubbles the Bear and much more!
