FIFA 18: West Ham's Ultimate Team of the Season

Jamboo

West Ham United's official eSports player, Jamboo, takes a look at the Hammers' best Ultimate Team players this season...

And so, another season comes to an end for West Ham United and the Premier League.

In recognition of some of the outstanding individual performances by some Hammers this campaign, check out the best combined West Ham team available in FIFA Ultimate Team this season.

GK: JOE HART

Brought in on loan from Manchester City last summer. Joe Hart earns his way into this Team of the Season thanks to the 84-rated Team of the Week card he was awarded back in April.

The England international’s terrific performance between the sticks for the Hammers against Chelsea helped the Irons earn a draw at Stamford Bridge.

RB: PABLO ZABALETA

Not a particularly stand-out card, but Pablo Zabaleta has enjoyed a decent debut season for West Ham since signing for the Club on a free transfer.

The experienced right-back was not awarded any in-form FUT cards this year by EA Sports, but his showings for the Hammers cannot be understated.

CB: CHEIKHOU KOUYATE

This special FUT card was given to Cheikhou Kouyate in March, as EA Sports celebrated Ultimate Team’s ninth birthday.

The theme was ‘players who could thrive in other positions’, hence the Senegal international’s move into defence. It proved to be an immensely popular card for FIFA players.

CB: WINSTON REID

Another in-form card for a strong showing against Chelsea, Winston Reid was given this reward by FIFA 18 for his battling performance in the 1-0 home win over the Blues last December.

Reid’s efforts helped the Hammers secure a first win under David Moyes in one of the best defensive displays of the campaign from the No2.

LB: PATRICE EVRA

With 21 trophies, 731 competitive senior club appearances and three appearances in the Premier League Team of the Year, Patrice Evra’s reputation alone more than deserves the 81-rating that FIFA 18 bestowed on the left-back.

It was the rating that Evra brought with him to West Ham when the Club signed him in February.

CDM: PEDRO OBIANG

What a goal from Pedro Obiang in our 1-1 draw with Tottenham back in January! The midfielder struck what has since been voted the West Ham United Goal of the Season, beating Hugo Lloris from distance, firing the ball into the top corner.

It was also a finish that saw Obiang named in the Team of the Week, winning him this card.

CM: JOAO MARIO

Following his move to West Ham on loan from Inter Milan in January, Joao Mario was given a Winter One To Watch card by EA Sports, highlighting the Portuguese midfielder as a player to keep an eye on for the rest of the season.

With two goals and a run of decent performances, it’s fair to say EA Sports predicted correctly.

RM: MICHAIL ANTONIO

This card became available over Christmas, as a part of FIFA 18’s FUTmas Squad Building Challenges.

Michail Antonio’s festive version, with an 83-rating, could be earned in the first few days of the event last December, with a team boasting at least three Premier League players, four players from the same nation and an 84-team rating needed to be traded in for it.

CAM: MANUEL LANZINI

Having helped the Hammers to a terrific 4-1 win over Huddersfield Town in January, scoring twice, Manuel Lanzini was subsequently named in the FIFA 18 Team of the Week, and awarded this 84-rated card.

LM: MARKO ARNAUTOVIC

The best rating given to a West Ham player this campaign, Marko Arnautovic was boosted to an incredible 87 rating in the aftermath of the side’s 2-0 victory against Watford.

The forward, recently voted the Hammer of the Year, has been immense in his debut season for the Irons.

ST: ANDY CARROLL

Another gift from FIFA 18 in their FUTmas giveaway, Andy Carroll was an available prize should the player score three headed goals in an online FUT match, as a part of the weekly giveaways.

This card comes with a 99-rating on heading for Carroll, who is famously decent at scoring with his noggin!
