World Cup 2018: West Ham stars in action this weekend

West Ham at the World Cup

Three West Ham United players will be in action at the 2018 World Cup this weekend, with Chicharito, Cheikhou Kouyate and new signing Lukasz Fabianski set to feature for their respective nations.

Saturday afternoon will see Chicharito and his Mexico team take on South Korea in their second contest in Group F.

The striker played the assist that lead to his side's goal in their now famous 1-0 victory over Germany last weekend, and Chicharito will be hoping for a similar result in Saturday's 4pm kick-off, which will be shown live on ITV.

The second World Cup game on Sunday features Cheikhou Kouyate and his Senegal teammates, who will take on Japan.

Kouyate

Senegal were the only African side to win in the first round of fixtures, securing a 2-1 win over Poland, with Kouyate playing the final few minutes of the contest.

The midfielder admitted post-match that he had not been 100% fit for Senegal's opening game of the World Cup, but Kouyate will be optimistic of being ready and back in the starting XI ahead of Sunday's 4pm kick-off, live on BBC One and the BBC Sport website.

Finally, goalkeeper Fabianski, who signed a three-year deal with the Hammers this week, will be in action with Poland as they play Colombia in Sunday's 7pm match.

Both sides lost their opening contest of the tournament, with the 33-year-old on the bench for his team, and Fabianski will be looking to get the nod to play between the sticks for his side as they seek to keep their World Cup dreams alive. Their match will be shown live on ITV.
