Chicharito confirmed in Mexico's World Cup squad

West Ham United striker Chicharito has been confirmed in Mexico's 23-man squad for this summer's World Cup tournament in Russia. 

The striker had been initially named as one of 28 players in a preliminary squad in May, and will travel with the national team to Russia for this year's competition.

Chicharito, who has scored 49 goals in 101 appearances for Mexico, and his teammates will play in Group F against Germany, Sweden and South Korea. 

Mexico's campaign will begin with a contest against the Germans on Sunday 17 June, followed by a clash with South Korea on Saturday 23 June and the final group stage match with Sweden on Wednesday 27 June.

The 30-year-old is the only Premier League representative in the side and joins Cheikhou Kouyate and Manuel Lanzini as one of three West Ham United players at this year's World Cup. 

Edimilson Fernandes will find out later today if he will join the trio, with the final Switzerland team due to be confirmed.
