Quina's Portugal U19 suffer Turkey defeat

Domingos Quina's Toulon Tournament group stage ended with a 2-1 defeat for Portugal U19 against Turkey's U20 side on Sunday.

Quina featured from the start, but the young Portuguese could not get the better of a more experienced Turkey outfit.

Portugal used the tournament for U21 players as preparation for the upcoming UEFA U19 Championships and were therefore up against teams who could call upon older players.

They finished at the foot of Group C, having drawn 0-0 with Canada U21 in their opening game, before seeing a 2-1 lead turn into a 3-2 defeat in the final three minutes against Japan U21.

Portugal still face one final game in the tournament, a match for ninth place against China U21 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Edimilson Fermandes was an unused substitute as Switzerland recorded a highly creditable 1-1 draw against Spain in Villarreal on Sunday night.
