West Ham United Academy’s second Official Coaching Association session takes place this month and places are now limited for the Chadwell Heath evening.
It’s set to be a fascinating night at the Academy of Football, with former Hammers and Academy products Jack Collison and Steve Potts both speaking to attendees about the history and culture of the Club.
Grassroots football is at the very core of the FA’s strategy and I’m delighted to speak to coaches from the local area at Chadwell Heath
Dan Ashworth
Ahead of the night, Ashworth said: "I am looking forward to visiting West Ham United and meeting local coaches who are at the heart of grassroots football.
"The opportunity that the Official Coaching Association is offering these coaches means that experience from the highest level of football will continue to benefit local players and communities.
“Grassroots football is at the very core of the FA’s strategy and I’m delighted to speak to coaches from the local area at Chadwell Heath next week.”
Like the first session, a practical training session will be demonstrated during the second half, this time with the U8, U13 and U18 age-groups all taking part.
Over 50 local coaches attended the first session, held in January, and they were able to rack the brains of the likes of Terry Westley – the Academy Director – and guest speakers Matt Upson and Paul Konchesky, who collectively made over 1,000 senior appearances as players.
The Association has been set up by the West Ham United Academy of Football to provide opportunities for grassroots level coaches to learn from some of the best and most experienced staff in the Hammers set up and the professional game.
The evening on Tuesday 13 February begins at 6pm. To book your place on the session, click here. You can also book a spot on the final two sessions – in March and April – by clicking here and finding your chosen evening.
