Chicharito: I’m enjoying my football

Chicharito wore a huge smile on his face after his third goal in a week helped West Ham United register their third victory over that same period.

The Hammers’ No17 pounced on a rebound from Felipe Anderson’s free-kick to put the Hammers 2-1 up against Crystal Palace on Saturday and give them the winning position which they held until the end of a topsy-turvy afternoon at London Stadium.

Chicharito also laid on an assist for Felipe Anderson, and after scoring twice at Newcastle last Saturday and having such a big impact on the 3-2 success against the Eagles, the striker is thrilled with the form both he and the team is displaying.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” he beamed. “We scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half and that shows the attacking power we have. We knew it was going to be tough as we were one down, but we scored very good goals from the chances we got and thankfully we got the advantage.

“People could say that it was a typical goal of mine, and I’m very glad because we won. I always say the goals that I score have exactly the same value as the other ones so I don’t mind!

“I got an assist today as well, and I’m trying my best. I’m enjoying playing football, that’s what I love most and thankfully the points and goals are coming as well. Hopefully this run keeps going.

“Getting the three points was the most important thing and we must keep going now. We have a full week until our next game against Fulham and that’s a good thing as we can recover properly and work very hard ahead of that one.”

Chicharito was paired with Andy Carroll for the second half of Saturday’s game and he is looking forward to have more opportunities to play alongside the No9.

He added: “Andy is a very good player, a very important player for us. He’s going to get the rhythm he needs because he was out for a lot of time, but he was involved for 45 minutes on Saturday and he did a very good job.

“Hopefully in the future he can play more and score goals as well."
