Chicharito set for action in busy day of internationals

Chicharito in action for Mexico

Chicharito and Mexico return to FIFA World Cup Qualification action in the early hours of Wednesday morning when they head to Costa Rica in a top-of-the-table clash.

Mexico have already booked their place in next summer's finals in Russia after taking 17 points from a possible 21 so far, but will be keen to keep Costa Rica behind them with the gap only three points with three games to play.

Chicharito played the 90 minutes as El Tri overcame Panama by a 1-0 scoreline in Mexico City on Friday and their meeting with Costa Rica will round-off a busy day for West Ham United's internationals.

First in action at 5pm is set to be Cheikhou Kouyate, whose Senegal side will be hoping to overtake group leaders Burkina Faso and keep their FIFA World Cup qualification hopes on track with victory in Ouagadougou.

The Lions of Teranga were held to a 0-0 draw when the sides met in Dakar on Saturday, so plenty is at stake on Tuesday, with the winners set to take a giant stride towards Russia.

Staying in Africa, Arthur Masuaku could make his DR Congo debut when the West African nation host Tunisia in Kinshasa at 7.30pm.

DR Congo dropped three points behind Tunisia after suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat in Rades at the weekend, so a return victory would be crucial to their World Cup hopes.

Also in need of three points is Andre Ayew's Ghana, who find themselves five points adrift of Group E leaders Uganda with three games to play. The Black Stars face Congo in Brazzaville at 7.45pm on Tuesday.

Marko Arnautovic shoots for goal against Wales

Closer to home, Marko Arnautovic's Austria were on the wrong end of a 1-0 defeat to James Collins' Wales at the weekend.  Group D in European World Cup qualification is finely poised, and both nations have winnable fixtures on Tuesday night.

Austria, who have eight points from seven games to date, host second-bottom Georgia in Vienna, while Wales, three points better off, head to Moldova - the country currently bringing up the rear in Group D. Both matches kick-off at 7.45pm.

In the age group internationals, Josh Cullen will captain the Republic of Ireland in their UEFA U21 Championship qualifier in Azerbaijan, which kicks-off at 4pm. Declan Rice is also likely to be involved.

Finally, Dan Kemp will hope to play as England U19 take on old rivals Germany in a friendly international at Mansfield Town with kick-off at 7pm. Kemp enjoyed a productive debut at that level on Friday, creating two goals in the Young Lions' 7-1 victory over Poland.
