West Ham United winger Nathan Holland has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February.

The 18-year-old has dazzled since joining the club in January and joins fellow Hammers Toni Martinez, Marcus Browne and Domingos Quina as a nominee for the award.

Holland played twice in Premier League 2 last month and scored the historic first ever PL2 goal at London Stadium against Fulham on 20 February in the Hammers 2-0 victory.

After the match, manager Terry Westley compared the Manchester-born forward to a “young Ryan Giggs”.

Speaking after the win over the Cottagers, Westley said: “I’d probably say Nathan Holland [was brilliant], particularly in the first half.

“What a talent we’ve got on our hands. He was skipping past players, reminding me of a really young Ryan Giggs. I think he particularly caught people eyes tonight.”

He also scored in two consecutive Premier League Cup fixtures, opening his account against Leicester City in a 2-2 draw and netting in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Holland faces stiff competition for the award, coming up against Mason Bennett (Derby County), Liam Walsh (Everton), Brahim Diaz (Manchester City) and Donovan Wilson (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

The winner of the award will be announced at the end of next of week.
