Highlights - West Ham United PL2 0-0 Aston Villa

West Ham United PL2 0-0 Aston Villa

FT: It's all over here at the CCS and a frustrating night for the Hammers who couldn't find that breakthrough in the second half. They had plenty of chances in the first and will probably feel that they just shaded the match. However, it could be a good point come the end of the season. Final score is goalless.

90+2: Swinging free-kick from Powell but Fletcher's header is straight at Johansson. 0-0

90: Three additional minutes to be played. 0-0

89: Last ditch defending from Villa. Quina is freed on the left but his pullback is blocked and unfortunately rebounds of the 17-year-old for a goal kick. 0-0

86: Diangana is through but cynically tugged back by O'Hare. The Villa midfielder deservedly picks up a booking. 0-0

82: Powell curls a ball through the Villa defence and Fletcher chases it down - he does well to block Johansson's clearance out for a throw-in. 0-0

80: Villa break and Rice is forced into a foul. Sellars bends the free-kick just wide. 0-0

77: And a sub for the Hammers. Joe Powell comes on to replace Dan Kemp. 0-0

74: Booking for Villa now. Mitchell Clark is given a yellow card for pulling back Moses Makasi. 0-0

69: Warning signs for West Ham. Blackett-Taylor crosses for O'Hare who flashes a header just wide. 0-0

65: It's been difficult over the last few minutes for the home side. Villa have had their best spell of the match and look threatening. 0-0

61: Substitution for the Hammers - Great start to life in claret and blue for Nathan Holland. He's replaced by Grady Diangana. 0-0

54: Chance for Villa. Keinan Davis stabs an effort towards goal but Trott makes a good save and clutches at the second opportunity. 0-0

49: Darting run from Quina, in an advanced position this evening. Johansson thwarts with a fingertip stop. 0-0

48: Another penalty claim for West Ham. Johansson hesitates and bundles over Fletcher but yet again, the referee says nothing doing. 0-0

46: Fletcher gets the game underway for the second half. Subs for the Hammers at the break - Akinola replaces Pask. 0-0

HT: Half-time here and we're level. It's been a very competitive opening 45 but the Hammers will feel they should be ahead. Holland, Knoyle, Neufville and Fletcher have all gone close but they've came up against an inspired Villa keeper in the first half. Goalless at the break. 0-0

45: 1 minute added on by the fourth official. 0-0

41: Kemp goes into the book for a foul on Davis. Sellars steps up but his free-kick hits the wall. 0-0

35: Best chance of the game. Kemp dispossesses a Villa midfielder and the Hammers break. Fletcher bides his time, unleashes a powerful drive but Johansson, again, makes a terrific save. 0-0

33: Kemp can't quite make the most of some nice build-up play. He probably should have gone across the keeper with his shot, but instead tried to sneak the ball in at his near post. All in all, Terry Westley will be pleased with what he has seen so far. 0-0

31: The Hammers goes close again. Kemp's cross is put back into danger by Holland. It falls to Fletcher who sends it back to Holland - the No7 forces Johansson into another good save. 0-0

29: Pask takes a nasty kick to the face but is ok to continue. It's great to see the defender, on loan at Gillingham, make his return from a 8 week lay-off tonight. 0-0

27: Villa with a chance! Davis does well to turn away from Pask but Trott produces a brilliant acrobatic save to deny him. 0-0

24: Nice play again from West Ham. Knoyle has been bright in the opening quarter and crosses for Neufville at the back post. The left-back's header loops just over. 0-0

21: Sellars sends a long range effort at goal but Trott uses his long arms to clutch the ball and prevent it going out for a corner. 0-0

19: Penalty appeals as Fletcher goes down in the box. Ref Lee Collins waves away muted protests. 0-0

16: First booking of the night for Villa. Jordan Cox pulls back Pask as the Hammers CB aimed to break forward. 0-0

10: Villa enjoying their spell of possession over the last couple of minutes. No real chances for them so far. 0-0

5 mins: Intricate build-up by the Hammers. Kemp lays the ball to Makasi who forces Johansson into a smart save. 0-0

2 mins: New boy Holland among the action straight away. Curls a ball round the corner to Fletcher whose cross is blocked for a corner. From the corner, Oxford rises highest but his header curls just wide. Positive start! 0-0

1 min: Villa get the ball rolling here. Come on you Irons!

6.40pm: Chilly one here this evening and it's a big game. Fifth versus sixth and the Hammers will be out for revenge after their 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture. Kick-off shortly!

6pm: Good evening and welcome to the Chigwell Construction Stadium for tonight's PL2 match between West Ham United and Aston Villa. After the frustration of the postponement on Monday, the Hammers are raring to go this evening. It's a big game as well with both sides next to each other in Division Two - West Ham are fifth and, as a result, occupying the final play-off place, with Villa in sixth, five points behind, so it's a big game in the context of the season.
