West Ham United fans are never short of eating options when they visit Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on a matchday – inside or outside London Stadium.
On the Podium Level, vendors and stallholders are present for each Hammers fixture, offering a wide variety of dishes outside the Club’s iconic home.
There are dishes to suit all tastes available, from traditional fish and chips to gourmet burgers, to pulled pork baguettes, Cornish pasties, salt beef beigels, hot dogs and even continental-style waffles, tea, coffee and donuts.
With many of the stalls opening hours before kick-off and remaining in service until well after the full-time whistle, fans can grab their grub as they soak up the atmosphere around the park or fill their stomachs in celebration of a Hammers victory.
Daniel Holland, who works on the Salt Beef Beigels stall outside London Stadium, says the Hammers offer a selection of refreshments which other clubs struggle to match.
“Our Salt Beef Beigels is a new stall at the Stadium, as we’re trying to bring as much variety to supporters’ matchday habits and food choices as possible,” he said.
“We’re trying new products, and this stall did very well on the first game against Crystal Palace.
“We’re hoping it continues to prove popular. We had many units back at Upton Park too, so as the Club moved on it was great to follow and continue be there for the fans.”
Holland said many of the stall’s regular customers had followed the business from the Boleyn Ground to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, too.
“We still get our regulars here too, and we see people here that we used to see at Upton Park. A lot of people still come up and say hello, so that’s great.”
Further along the Podium Level, Shelley Dye works on the Fat Hog Roast stall, serving succulent and tasty pork products.
“Our best seller on a matchday is our pork baguette!” she smiled. “We’re always busy on a matchday and our range is and has been very popular this season with all supporters.
“My whole family follow West Ham, so for me to be serving the supporters on a matchday is great. They come down to the Stadium when they have got tickets, so it’s great that the whole family are involved.
“We serve fans after the match as well as before, so after a win the atmosphere is often great!”
Finally, a serving of good old-fashioned serving of fish and chips is another favourite among the Claret and Blue Army, and Pawel Rosa loves serving smiling supporters when West Ham win.
“We’re always busy on a matchday in the lead up to the game and fans coming to the games seem to like fish and chips!” he confirmed. “It’s a classic in this country!
“The atmosphere is always good; after the game, the fans seem to be happy too so West Ham must be doing well this season!
“England is famous for its sporting attractions and this London Stadium is a great one. The whole area is nice for fans to come before the game and get some food.”
