The Salvation Army has thanked West Ham United’s Academy of Football for their generous donation of presents for Christmas.
Organised by Head of Elite Performance Greg de Carnys and Kit Manager Andy Tyson, the presents brought in by young players were collected outside the changing rooms at Chadwell Heath in the lead up to the festive period.
Tyson, along with U23s assistant manager Liam Manning and players Dan Kemp, Josh Pask and Jahmal Hector-Ingram, visited the Salvation Army’s HQ in Elephant and Castle to deliver the gifts a week prior to Christmas Day.
Last week, David Brown, the Salvation Army Officer for Stratford, Tower Hamlets and Poplar, delivered a letter to the Academy, thanking the players and staff for their efforts.
It read: “It was great to partner with you this Christmas. You have reached deep into your own pockets to help us give gifts to children in this area. You have given 85 gifts of great quality.
“I cannot tell in words how important your contributions are to our work here and we so appreciate the time and money you all donated to finding the right gifts, making these children very happy.
“Your 85 gifts were all distributed within two days of our meeting such was the need this year.
“Once again many, many thanks for your help for Christmas 2016, we all look forward to working with you again during 2017.”
