West Ham United are celebrating the work of Moore Family Foundation at Wednesday's Premier League match with Manchester City...
The Moore Family Foundation (MFF) is a proud Principal Charity Partner of West Ham United.
Established in Bobby Moore’s memory, the Moore Family Foundation has been providing life-changing opportunities for 16,000 Year 6 students in east London and Essex since its inception in 2014. The work of MFF has been highlighted on the BBC’s The One Show, as well as receiving countless accolades, and even scooping the “Community Project of the Year” Award at the 2016 London Football Awards.
More than 60 schools across the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Redbridge, Thurrock and Tower Hamlets have received mentoring provision.
More than 11,000 children have taken part in MFF healthy lifestyle workshops, with a further 3,000 benefitting from educational sessions at the Boleyn Ground, prior to our move to London Stadium. The Foundation has also worked with 1,320 vulnerable children to enhance personal confidence as well as improving Numeracy and Literacy skills.
The programme not only benefits learning, but provides teaching staff with additional support, enabling more children in need of one-on-one help to excel at school.
Billy Davis, a teacher at Bobby Moore’s own Ripple Primary School gave an insight into the support MFF provide.
“The Moore Family Foundation work alongside our Year 6 staff to assist 18 vulnerable children in building their skills and confidence prior to their SATs examinations,” he explained. “In doing so, friendships are made, support and encouragement is given and results are produced.
“Having an extra adult, at any level, to assist during the build-up to the SAT’s is of great use. Once SATs are completed, MFF continue their support, providing team building activities to help prepare our 90 year six children as they approach their final days here and get ready for secondary school.”
