Ladies' Chong scoops Goal of the Month

Dayna Chong, of the West Ham United Ladies team, has scooped the whufc.com Goal of the Month prize for March following her stunning long-range strike against Swindon Town Ladies.

Chong took your vote for the best goal across our teams in March, sending her volley flying into the top right hand corner of the net from range to secure a 2-2 draw against the Robins in the very last minute of the game.

Her fantastic goal saw off competition from Manuel Lanzini's postage-stamp free-kick against Leicester City to take top honours.

Declan Rice's thumping header for the Premier League 2 side against Newcastle United took third place.

Chong was thrilled with her strike, saying: “I do practice my volleys and I do score quite a few goals like that in training. Hopefully I can score one or two more wondergoals like that before the end of the season, as we’ve got some important games coming up.

“It meant a lot to us because in our last few games we have been trying our hardest without getting the results we need or deserve. It’s a team effort and scoring in the last few minutes and the way we celebrated showed how much it meant to us."
