Payet wins Goal of the Month

Dimitri Payet has won the vote for October’s West Ham United Goal of the Month.

Payet’s remarkable slaloming effort against Middlesbrough took your vote as our best strike in an October month which saw a collection of fine Hammers’ goals.

However, there was no doubting that Payet’s solo strike stood alone, as he took a landslide 75 percent of the poll, ahead of Manuel Lanzini’s lovely finish at Crystal Palace and Cheikhou Kouyate’s long-range header against Chelsea, which tied for second on six percent.

Payet was edged out for an awards double, though, by fellow midfielder Pedro Obiang, who won the whufc.com vote to be named October’s Player of the Month.

The former Spain U21 international regained his place in the starting XI for the first game of October against Middlesbrough and never looked back, playing an important role in screening the back four as the team’s form picked up.

Obiang collected 42 percent of the vote, with Payet behind in second with 28 percent.

Adrian and Kouyate were joint-third on 14 percent.
