FT AET- Dev Squad 3-2 Fulham U21

FT AET: Dev Squad 3-2 Fulham

That's it! The Hammers are through to the quarter-finals! A gruelling 3-2 win, coming back from behind twice to secure the win. The Dev Squad are unbeaten in eight now! COYI. Reaction to follow.

90+30: Final moments now...

90+27: Down the other end, Parfitt-Williams and Pike almost seal it yet a desperate sliding block clears the danger.

90+25: Five left to play...Oxford cuts out a cross which almost beats Howes! Thankfully it nestles on the side netting.

90+23: Just to compound the cold it's raining down. Free-kick to Fulham...which Oxford wins and then wins a free-kick expertly. Superb leadership from the skipper.

90+20: Pressure from Fulham now, just as Smith looks he's about to equalise, Howes collects. Cramp kicking in all over the place. Not long now!

90+20: Declan Rice, a day before his 17th birthday, is on in place of the outstanding Stephen Hendrie.

90+18: Real tired legs out there now! Both sides have given everything tonight.

90+16: We're back under way, not long now! Pike breaks from the re-start but his effort is well wide.

90+15: The Challenges are coming in thick and fast now. Lee is on the end of an over zealous challenge just before Pike throws himself in. The crowd love it! Proper football this!!

90+13: Hendrie really has been outstanding tonight. His workrate is easy to overlook at times but he's been everywhere tonight, solid at the back, and a constant threat going forward.

90+10: GOOOOOAL!!!
Elliot Lee steps up coolly to slot the spot kick home after Hendrie was fouled. The striker held his nerve well, sending Norman the wrong way.

90+8: How close can you get?! Alex Pike does ever so well to break into the box yet his cross-come-shot is millimetres wide. Excellent play from the makeshift right-winger.

90+5: Patient build up from the Hammers eventually sees Knoyle free down the right-flank yet is delievery has just too much on it.

90+2: They go on the offensive immediately and it almost works as Smith's effort hits the post!

90+1: Fulham get us back under way. How anyone has any energy left is beyond me!

That's the end of the regulation 90 minutes, we'll have two halves of 15-minutes to determine the proceedings. If the scores are level after that, we face the dreaded (yet, much loved) penalty shootout. This is a proper cup tie!

90:
Two minutes of extra time to be added on before extra-time.

87: Break away chance for Fulham which is thwarted as Howes comes quickly off his line to save the danger.

85: Another fine attacking move involving Makasi, Parfitt-Williams and Hendrie, it ends with Norman collected well.

82: How did that stay out?! Lee does superbly to get to the byline before drilling a cross along the six-yard box, it falls to Oxford who blasts it over the bar.

80: Josh Smile does well to relieve the pressure on the visitors as he buys a foul. Fulham make their first change as De Le Torre is replaced by Stephen Humphreys.

77: Westley's second role of the dice sees Alex Pike enter the fray in place of Jaanai Gordon.

75: Good defending from Hendrie who forces Sheckleford wide, away from danger and then skews his cross. Simple but effective from the Scot.

71: Cullen fizzes it in toward Oxford to attack yet it fractionally too high for him, the ball is recycled back into Oxford who juggles it four times before shooting but it's cleared away.

70: The Hammers look the more likely to score as they burst down the right once again, Knoyle and Lee combining well. Jaanai Gordon gets in on the action and runs his heart out to win a corner...

66: It's not just off the ball either, Dobson spraying balls around like there's no tomorrow. First to the left then to the right, excellent play.

64: Excellent hounding from Dobson, he and Cullen haven't stopped running all evening, hard-work personified.

62: Williams again bends a shot but Howes makes a smart save, good goalkeeping from the youngster.

60: Crossbar! The Hammers are getting closer! Parfitt-Williams smashed the woodwork with a thunderous drive. Seconds later Alex Song blazes just over. That's his last piece of action as he's substituted, as planned, on 60 minutes. Moses Makasi is on in his place.

58: Oxford leaps like a salmon to win a header majestically, the crowd love it and a huge Joe Root style 'Reeeeece' can be heard along the terraces.

56: Fulham respond in kind as George Williams tries his luck from the edge of the D, thankfully it sails past the top corner but the No10 looks like a real poacher!

53: Agonizingly wide! George Dobson picks up a loose ball and is clean through however Norman does superbly well to tip it round the post. From the corner Oxford and Lee go close multiple times during the most epic scramble yet Fulham clear their lines without cracking under pressure...

49: Terry Westley's men have really flown out of the traps, this time Parfitt-Williams pulling strings as he tries to thread the eye of the needle in towards Cullen but the pass is cut out. He would have been clean through!

47: A chance almost immediately for the Hammers as Reece Oxford goes close from a tight angle at the near post from a corner.

46: The teams are back out for the second half and we're all set. Josh Cullen and Elliot Lee get us back under way. A big 45 minutes ahead!

HT:
The referee blows his whistle and brings an end to a pulsating first half. Real, end to end stuff. Surely more goals in the second half?

44: GOOOOAL!! Elliot Lee equalises, the striker twists and turns on the edge of the box before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the far corner. Superb strike. 2-2.

40: Meanwhile down the other end, Kyle Knoyle slides in expertly to avoid the danger, excellent challenge!

37: The Hammers are working hard to fight their way back into the game but their efforts are being thwarted in the final third.

33: Goal! The Cottagers make no mistake with their next attack. This time Mattias Kait slots home following a goalmouth scramble resulting from a corner that wasn't cleared. 1-2.

31: Air shot alert! That's a real humdinger. Elworthy did all the hard work but just as he was about to pull the trigger the ball eluded his swipe. Just as well as he was in a dangerous position.

29: Lung-busting run from Hendrie carries the ball 40-yards, it eventually makes its way to Knoyle, who, at a difficult angle, fires just over. Worth a try!

24: Lee goes close from the edge of the box before Cullen's persistent chasing also pays off as he blocks goalkeeper Magnus Norman's clearance but it goes behind for a goalkick. Close!

20: A real end to end game here at Rush Green. Both sides playing attacking, expansive football, a proper cup tie! Matt Smith is proving a handful upfront while Parfitt-Williams, Gordon and Lee are all working hard upfront. This could go either way!

17: GOOOOAL!! The Hammers have equalised through Djair Parfitt-Williams who heads home from a corner - that's his second headed goal in as many games! 1-1.

11: GOAL!
Fulham take the lead as striker Matt Smith's deflected shot from the edge of the box gives Sam Howes very little chance of saving. 1-0 to the visitors.

9: Excellent flowing move starts with a crossfield pass from Alex Song to Stephen Hendrie who works it well with Djair Parfitt-Williams. They spread it across the Cottager's penalty area with Cullen and Lee who feeds Knoyle. The move breaks down, somewhat controversially, when Jaanai Gordon is hauled down, the home crowd certainly thought it was a penalty! Nothing doing from referee Ian Cooper.

7: Good defending from Kyle Knoyle who shepherds a ball out of play after Shane Elworthy made a dangerous run forward.

5: First shot on target and it goes the way of the West Londoners - George Williams' effort is on target but Sam Howes is equal to it.

4: Frantic pace to the opening exchanges, no one is allowed an inch of space as yet. The Hammers are enjoying more possession yet the visitors are chasing everything down.

1: Here we go! The Hammers, in their traditional claret and blue, are kicking left to right in this first half. Fulham, in their customary white and black get us underway! COYI!

6.45pm: Just under 15 minutes to go until kick off here at a chilly Rush Green. The crowd are filing in and we're all sat for a cracker. The quarter-finals await for whoever prospers tonight. We also face the prospect of extra-time and penalties should the score remain level at 90 minutes.

6.30pm: As you can see from the line ups both teams are taking this match seriously and clearly want a cup run to go alongside their league campaigns. The Hammers are currently fifth on 20 points while Fulham are eighth.

6pm: The teams are in!

Hello and welcome to tonight's live coverage from Rush Green of the U21 Premier League Cup Round of 16 tie with London rivals Fulham.

Despite the chilly conditions we are all set for a cracker of a game as both sides approach this game in good form. The Hammers are seven games unbeaten, winning six of those while the Cottagers are five games unbeaten themselves.

And, as if this game needed any more billing, earlier on in the season, the West Londoners secured a 2-0 win at the Boleyn Ground.
