Antonio - I knew all about this one!

Michail Antonio made it two goals in two games with his header against Liverpool – and this time he was delighted to be able to say he meant it!

Having opened his Hammers account with a strange goal against Southampton, when Victor Wanyama’s attempted clearance looped in off him, he powered a header home in Saturday’s 2-0 win over the Reds.

He had to wait some time for his West Ham career to get going, but is certainly grabbing his opportunity now.

He said: “In the last game the goal I got was kind of a fluke, but against Liverpool I knew everything about it.

“It’s part of my game and it doesn’t matter where I start I’m always going to be in the box because I’m hungry for goals. Hopefully I can keep getting them.

“From last season I’ve always tried to get to the far stick because I’ve got a decent leap and am quite strong.

“As the ball’s come in I’ve held off Clyne and scored with a diving header.”

The victory sealed West Ham’s first double over Liverpool in 52 years, but Antonio said observers should no longer be surprised at their toppling of the big boys this term.

He added: “It’s not a surprise that we’re producing these kind of performances. We’ve shown it right from the start of the season when we beat all the top boys.

“We’ve had a bit of a dip with the injuries, but players are coming back, the squad is getting strong again and now we can keep pushing on.

“What we’re concentrating on is the next game, that’s Wolves in the FA Cup and we want another win.
