  • Edmilison Fernandes was born in the town of Sion in south western Switzerland on 15 April 1996
  • Fernandes is the cousin of former Manchester City and Switzerland midfielder Gelson Fernandes, former Everton and Portugal midfielder Manuel Fernandes and ex-Sunderland midfielder Cabral
  • The youngster was born in Switzerland of Portuguese and Cape Verdean descent
  • Fernandes was just 17 years and two months old when he made his first-team debut for Sion in a 4-2 Swiss Super League win over FC Zurich on 1 June 2013
  • A first senior goal arrived in a 2-2 draw at home to FC Luzern on 1 March 2015 – one of two he scored in 48 Super League appearances
  • Fernandes lost just one of the nine Swiss Cup ties he played in and scored in the 2015 final victory over FC Basel
  • The central midfielder assisted both goals on his European debut – a 2-1 UEFA Europa League victory over Russian club Rubin Kazan in September 2015
