Chelsea 3-0 Dev Squad
Cobham Training Ground, Pre-Season Friendly, Friday 5 August
FT: And that's it here, Chelsea are 3-0 winners. In the end, it was probably deserved, but the scoreline perhaps flattered the Blues a touch. The season kicks-off for real for the Hammers next week, when they take on Stoke City in their Premier League 2 opener.
86: Goal. That's the icing on the cake for the Blues, who convert their third through Charlie Wakefield, the sub. A precise curled effort into the far corner.
84: Toni Martinez has another attempt, but the ball just wouldn't sit down for him on this occasion. It goes over the bar and a goal kick is awarded. The former Valencia man has impressed out here this afternoon, however.
81: The Hammers opt to play it short though, and their attack is eventually broken down.
80: Ten minutes remaining in this one, as Martinez and Browne combine well to earn the Hammers a free-kick 25 yards out...
72: Triple sub for Chelsea. Christie-Davis, Sammut and Wakefield replace Sterling, Colkett and Scott.
68: Next to try his luck is Browne, but Thompson is again the man to foil West Ham, saving down low to his left. It's still 2-0 at Chelsea's Cobham Training Ground.
67: Martinez has another effort on goal, but this time it is blocked before it reaches the keeper. West Ham have reacted despite falling two goals behind.
64: West Ham do have the ball in the back of the net, but Samuelsen - who provided Browne with a tap in - was adjudged to be in an offside position.
62: Goal for Chelsea. A second for the Blues comes through Mason Mount, who cuts inside a sliding Josh Pask to tuck under Spiegel. It was just as the Hammers were beginning to apply some pressure.
61: The Hammers are probing here. A few dangerous attacks are prevented late on by Chelsea, the best for Samuelsen who had space in the left channel before being closed down quickly.
55: Tunji Akinola replaces the injured Carter, and Moses Makasi looks now set to slot in at left-back. Akinola will play on the other side of defence, with Sylvestre slotting into midfield. A re-jiggle for the Hammers.
54: Matt Carter has been caught late here and is receiving treatment. A bit of a chance for the Hammers to re-group and work out their plan of attack for getting back into this game.
48: Browne breaks down the left side for the Hammers, but his cross is cut out. Could he have had a go at goal there? Nevertheless, it's a positive start to the second half for Terry Westley's men.
46: The match has re-started with the second half here. No changes for either side.
HT: The Hammers will feel hard done by there, to concede so late on. They grew into the game after a tricky start, and looked the better side for much of the last 20 minutes. It's the Blues who go in in front, however.
45: Goal for Chelsea. Right on the stroke of half time, Ugbo finishes a neat move. 1-0, and it's cruel on West Ham.
44: The Hammers have appeals for a penalty waved away. Martinez found his way into the penalty area, and tumbled under a Trevoh Chalobah challenge. It was 50-50, that one.
40: And straight away, the Hammers are in again, as Martinez races clear before his effort is denied by Thompson. The visitors are really starting to take control!
39: Close for West Ham! In the best move of the game, Diego Poyet finds Marcus Browne, who spreads a lovely ball out wide for Noha Sylvestre. His cross is cut out for a corner, though, and the resulting set piece is cleared.
37: A superb Spiegel right-hand denies Ike Ugbo breaking the deadlock. He got down low and did well to hold onto the ball, there.
33: As the game gets back underway, Chelsea win two corners in succession, but West Ham clear through the lively Martin Samuelsen.
30: Break in play here as Dabo goes down to receive some treatment. It gives the Dev Squad a chance to get some fluids on board on a warm day in Surrey.
25: This time, it's Declan Rice clearing things up at the back. Chelsea burst forward through Fantaky Dabo, but Rice - who has been with the first team recently - slides to intercept superbly.
24: Spiegel is winning everything inside his box. This time, he comes to comfortably collect a dangerous free-kick from Colkett.
20: Marcus Browne delivers a free-kick from the left-hand-side, but Moses Makasi can't turn it goalwards. West Ham are very much in this match now.
12: The ball finds its way to Toni Martinez on the the edge of the box and the Spaniard hits a fierce drive towards goal. Chelsea keeper Jared Thompson is behind it, however.
11: Chelsea have had large amounts of the ball but West Ham's high pressing is causing them to panic. It's been a good start from the visitors against their Division 1 opponents.
6: What a run from centre-back Josh Pask! The tall defender charges almost 80 yards forward but is dispossessed at the last second by a Blues defender.
5: The Blues go close again as a terrific Matt Carter challenge strikes the post and allows Spiegel to collect.
3: Chelsea's Charlie Colkett tries his luck with a dipping volley from distance but Raphael Spiegel sees it fly over his crossbar.
1: The Hammers are underway against the Blues here!
11:45am: The sun is beaming down on the lads as they warm up here in Cobham. There are only 15 minutes until kick-off in the last preparation match for the Dev Squad's 2016/17 campaign.
11:30am: So Terry Westley has gone strong for his side's final pre-season fixture before they kick-off their campaign against Stoke City next week. Chelsea, of course, are a Division 1 side, however, and are likely to give the Hammers a tough test this afternoon.
