West Ham United Joint-Chairman David Sullivan has paid tribute to his late friend David Gest.

The  American entertainer, comedian, producer and television personality, who passed away in London earlier this week, was invited to the recent Barclays Premier League fixture with Crystal Palace.

"David was a lovely man," said Mr Sullivan. "He was my personal guest at the Crystal Palace game. I loved his annual Soul tours and saw the last one at Doncaster.

"I love classic soul music and his tours always included some real legends.

"He was Mr. Showbiz and a really wonderful person who also did so much for charity. He’ll be greatly missed by so many."

David Gest, who was 62, produced a number popular musical television shows and tours, while he was perhaps best known in the UK for his appearances on the reality television programmes I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother.
