West Ham United 4-0 Manchester United
League Cup Quarter-Finals
30 November 2010

West Ham United dumped Carling Cup holders Manchester United out of the competition thanks to an inspired Jonathan Spector.

The American scored his first goal for the club when he headed home a perfectly delivered cross from Nigerian Victor Obinna after 22 minutes.

The defender, who was deployed in midfield for this match, then doubled his tally 15 minutes later as he pounced on a defensive slip-up to slot the ball past Tomasz Kuszczak.

Obinna was again the provider, this time for Carlton Cole, as the big striker powered home a header 11 minutes after the restart.

The rout was complete when Cole got his second after he held off the attentions of the defender and spun beautifully before slotting the ball past Kuszczak after 66 minutes to complete a memorable win.

The Hammers would face Birmingham City in the semi-finals where over two-legs they succumbed to a 4-3 aggregate defeat.
