F1 star visits the Hammers

Williams F1 driver Felipe Massa dropped in at the Boleyn Ground last Saturday to watch his friend Nene take on Everton
The worlds of Formula One and Premier League football came together last week when Williams driver Felipe Massa came to the Boleyn Ground to support his friend and countryman Nene.

The pair have spent some time watching each other's sport in recent weeks, as Nene also travelled to Barcelona to take in the Spanish Grand Prix, in which Massa placed sixth.

whufc.com caught up with Massa when he visited E13 for the Hammers' 2-1 defeat to Everton, when the 34-year-old revealed a strong interest in English football.

He said: "I knew West Ham before Nene signed here. It's a famous team in the Premier League and I follow football, but for sure I support West Ham a lot more now! I really hope Nene can show what he can do for the team.

"My team in Brazil is Sao Paolo and it's difficult to compare them to West Ham. They're two different countries with different styles.

"It's a different way of playing here in the Premier League to the Brazilian championship so you need the two teams to play each other to compare them!

"I like the Premier League, it's physical, there are a lot of crosses and headed goals. It's a different play to Brazil and an interesting championship."

When it comes to the F1, Massa has a fight on his hands to rein in Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, although he thinks he has identified an opportunity.

He added: "I know how we can beat the Mercedes. Lewis and Nico are fighting closely, so maybe they both go out at the first corner and then we have a big chance!"
