West Ham United were on a run of one win in eight league matches when Chelsea visited east London in March 1997.
The Hammers had also suffered a humiliating FA Cup exit to Second Division Wrexham on their bad run, but the gloom was lifted by a superb performance against their London rivals.
Paul Kitson provided the inspiration the home side badly needed, grabbing a brace as Julian Dicks converted a penalty to fire the hosts to a much-needed victory.
Success against the Blues seemed to bring the confidence back to Harry Redknapp's side and they lost only twice more in their final ten matches to finish the season in 14th place.
