England international Trevor Sinclair was born in Dulwich on 2 March 1973, but began his career in Blackpool where he made his debut in 1989.
After four years and 112 league appearances, the winger returned to London to sign for Queens Park Rangers where he began to make a name for himself in the top flight.
He won the BBC's Match of the Day Goal of the Season competition in 1997 for his spectacular overhead kick in an FA Cup match against Barnsley, and moved on to the Hammers in 1998 after five years' service at Loftus Road.
Sinclair went on to spend a further five years with the Hammers, netting 37 goals in 177 league appearances and appearing at the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals whilst a West Ham player.
A year later, and following relegation from the top flight, Sinclair was sold to Manchester City for a fee of £3.3m. He played 82 times in league competition for the Eastlands club and ended his career with a stint with Cardiff City.
Classic match
West Ham United 3-0 Chelsea
League Division One
2 March 1974
The Hammers scored a super 3-0 victory in a Boleyn Ground London derby with Chelsea on this day in 1974.
Ron Greenwood's men were fighting against relegation from the top flight when the Blues travelled over to the other side of the capital, but there was little evidence of the Hammers' plight as they roared to victory.
Billy Bonds notched a hat-trick to see off Chelsea, who themselves were down at the wrong end of the table.
The two point haul lifted West Ham four places clear of the bottom three and they were to remain there for the rest of the campaign, ending up a point above the drop zone in 18th place.
