Scottish right-half Norman Corbett spent 13 years as a West Ham United player, although the intervention of the Second World War restricted him to 166 league appearances in claret and blue.
As a schoolboy he captained the Falkirk team which won the Scottish Schools Trophy and then signed for Hearts at the age of 15.
Corbett moved on to West Ham in April 1937 and remained at the Club when league football resumed after the war in 1946.
As well as playing wartime football for the Hammers, he guested for Southampton, along with serving as a volunteer with the Essex Regiment.
He played his last league game for West Ham against Cardiff City in April 1950 and later coached at Clapton.
Norman's brothers David and Willie also played for the Hammers, and he died in June 1990 at the age of 71.
