Trinidad & Tobago 0-2 United States of America
CONCACAF Gold Cup, Group B
Home Depot Centre, California, USA
9 June 2007

Then-West Ham United defender Jonathan Spector won his fourth cap for his country on this day in 2007 as part of a successful CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign.

The United States were hosting the continental competition for North American and Caribbean sides and got off to the perfect start by defeating Guatemala 1-0.

Trinidad, who qualified for the previous year's World Cup, were next up and goals from Brian Ching and Eddie Johnson would ensure their 100 per cent start would continue.

A 4-0 victory over El Salvador meant they qualified for the quarter-finals with a perfect record and further wins - all by a 2-1 scoreline - against Panama, Canada and Mexico - gave the hosts a fourth Gold Cup title.

Spector, now of Birmingham City, has won 34 caps to his country to date, appearing in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
