Hello fellow Hammers!
We are the West Ham United Supporters Club Malta/Gozo, where we were founded exactly 20 years ago by Norman Galea and a few other West Ham fans on the islands.
We are not very large in number, but the few of us are passionate about the Hammers.
Ever since West Ham’s place in the UEFA Europa League was confirmed, we hoped that the Hammers would be drawn to face a Maltese club, and our dreams came true!
This week, we will be at Ta’Qali National Stadium to support the boys against Birkirkara FC, one of the top Maltese clubs. It really will be a once in a lifetime experience for us all.
From the very beginning of our Fan Club, we always managed to visit Upton Park one or twice a year, every season. We have great memories of Wembely finals, Cardiff Play-Off finals and the 2006 FA Cup final, great Cup ties at home and away and Premier League games.
In the very early years of our Fan Club. We also use to visit Chadwell Heath to watch a training sessions and meet the players. Now adays it is a bit difficult to do this but occasionally we still meet with a West Ham legend, a player or even the Joint-Chairmen.
This year, we are looking so much forward to our last season at Upton Park, where we have so much great memories over the years and have built up a great history. We are planning to visit Upton Park with a few extra trips to London.
With the appointment of Slaven Bilic as our manager and the recruitment of some more exiting players with the ones we had last season, this surely should be a season to remember, especially with it being the Farewell Season to The Boleyn Ground and the move to The Olympic Stadium in Stratford.
Talking specifically about the move to Stratford, this could be the opportunity of a lifetime for West Ham United to go a step further and compete with the best teams in England. We know that, as fans, we are already on top of all the rest – we just need a bigger stadium so with a few more noisy fans we can outclass the rest.
Going back to The West Ham United Supporters Club Malta/Gozo, for the next two seasons – The Farewell to Upton Park and the first season in the new Stadium in Stratford – founder Norman has put up a Club House where members will be able to watch the Hammers’ games LIVE on TV.
With West Ham United also competing in the Europa League this surely going be a long season for us fans!
Last but not least we would like to point out that Norman is a Season Ticket Holder in the Bobby Moore Lower for these past six years and with great pride he always hangs up his Maltese Hammers flags at all the home matches he attends.
The Maltese Hammers are proud to be one of a host of overseas supporters’ clubs who regularly attend home matches at the Boleyn Ground, including The Italian Hammers, The Scandinavian Hammers, New York Hammers and others.
