Hendrie ready to impress

West Ham United's new signing Stephen Hendrie has wasted no time settling into his new surroundings and says he is ready to play a major role for the Club in both domestic and European competition next season.

Hendrie was one of the standout players in Scotland last season and earned rave reviews for Hamilton.

The Scotland Under-21 international jumped at the chance to make the move into the Premier League when West Ham made their move to sign the talented full-back.

And with a new manager being appointed and the club returning to European action for the first time since 2006, Hendrie says he could not be joining the club at a better time.

Hendrie said: “When I signed contract I was eager to come down and meet the new boys and manager. It has been great.

“I know Slaven is a great manager and taking Croatia to the quarter-finals of the Euros shows the qualities he has.

“It is brilliant for me to join West Ham when we are playing in Europe and it will be great for the players to express themselves in the Europa League.

“I like to get forward and whip in crosses but also be solid at the back. There is great competition for places and Aaron Cresswell obviously won the Hammer of the Year last season but I am looking forward to the challenge.”
