Fanimo loaned to Tranmere

West Ham United winger Matthias Fanimo has joined League Two side Tranmere Rovers on loan.

The 20-year-old has initially linked up with the Super White Army until 11 October 2014, and the loan spell can be extended through to January 2015.

A former England U18 international, Fanimo has appeared three times for the Hammers at first-team level - twice in the League Cup and once in the FA Cup - since making his debut in a League Cup second-round win over Crewe Alexandra at the Boleyn Ground in August 2012.

Lambeth-born Fanimo heads to Prenton Park in good form, having scored four goals in a behind closed doors friendly victory over Ipswich Town last week.

He could make his Tranmere debut at Hartlepool United on Saturday, while Rob Edwards' side also face home league games with Newport County, Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle and trips to Carlisle United and Bury during his initial loan stint.

Fanimo becomes the third West Ham player out on loan, as forward Modibo Maiga is with French Ligue 1 club FC Metz for the season and midfielder George Moncur is at League One side Colchester United until January.
