Alpari winner proves lucky charm

Alpari launched their Mascot competition at the beginning of October for one young lucky Hammer to walk out with their footballing heroes ahead of the Manchester City clash at the Boleyn Ground.

Entrants simply needed to send in a drawing of their favourite West Ham United player for the chance to win, with their works of art to be judged by the first-team players themselves:

The winning drawing was a fantastic action shot of goalkeeper Adrian pulling off a trademark diving save, drawn by Thomas Nash, aged seven.

Thomas's father, Dave Nash, was over the moon to hear the news

"He's absolutely ecstatic, I'm not sure he'll sleep much for the next week. You've completely made a dream of his come true," he said.

To top it off Thomas also celebrated his eighth birthday a few days before the big day…a birthday he'll never forget!

After a long week of anticipation and excitement, the big day had finally arrived for Thomas to walk out on the big pitch in his Adrian goalkeeper shirt and meet the star players before they took on league champions Manchester City. Thomas said: "All the players were really nice and it felt awesome walking out on to the pitch in front of a packed stadium".

Thomas proved to be somewhat of a lucky charm for the Hammers, after a 2-1 victory in a remarkable game which leaves the Hammers sitting nicely in fourth place in the league.

Mr Nash commented: "We both had a fantastic day but I think it was honestly his best day ever. He thoroughly enjoyed every moment, got to walk out with Adrian which is what he wanted and got a signed match glove after as well, so it was even better than he hoped it would be. It's something he's never going to forget, and the result of course topped the day off nicely!"

The four lucky competition runners-up also had their drawings signed and received a West Ham United football signed by members of the first team.
