Power, poise and personality are the cornerstone vocal attributes of the emerging London-based singer-songwriter Harper.
Of course, a voice is nothing without a song that allows it to soar.
Harper's own compositions are lyrically evocative tales of love and loss which flirt with sub-genres while maintaining a core contemporary crossover feel. It's the sound of an artist with all of the necessary tools needed to soar into the stratosphere.
Harper's biggest opportunity arrived when she was invited to be the first artist to be signed to ICU. Since then, she's spent five days a week as one quarter of a creative cottage industry which is completed by label boss Elliott Govinden and production duo Eagle Eye.
The songs that have already emerged confirms that their faith in Harper was well-founded.
The track Island is a particularly strong example of the compelling power of their work as it ascending towards a towering hook with Harper's vocal gift -- controlled clout capturing the chorus with elegant phrasing flowing throughout the verses -- complementing the leftfield nuances of the neo-pop production.
"ICU is a great label to work with, providing the whole team -- me, Ray and Ashton -- with the vision to make our album a great success" concludes Harper, as an infectious smile spreads from cheek-to-cheek. "When you're surrounded by people like them, your self-belief just keeps on building up. Who knows what we could achieve?"
