October's nominated players are:

Diafra Sakho

The Senegal striker's perfect start to life in a claret and blue shirt continued during October, as he scored in all three games to help propel the Hammers to nine points. A close range header against QPR, was matched with another headed effort at Burnley. By nodding home Aaron Cresswell's cross against Manchester City, he made it a trio of headed goals.

Enner Valencia

Another striker in fine form was Enner Valencia. Working in tandem with Sakho, the Ecuador star added to his own goal tally with a stunning header at Burnley. He was a fair way out when connecting with Carl Jenkinson's cross, but left goalkeeper Tom Heaton no chance with his bullet header.

Alex Song

The on-loan Barcelona man has been a formidable presence in the Hammers midfield since arriving at the Club and he enjoyed a fine October, setting the tempo in the middle of the park and playing a crucial role in Morgan Amalfitano's opener against Manchester City by sliding a perfect pass through for Enner Valencia to cross.

Aaron Cresswell

The summer signing has continued to impress since making the step up to the top flight and October's games yielded two assists for the attacking left-back. First he whipped in a perfect ball for Sakho to notch at Burnley, before producing a carbon copy the following week against Manchester City.

Morgan Amalfitano

Another new signing to have taken to life at the Boleyn Ground like a duck to water, Amalfitano has provided a tidy presence in the West Ham midfield. He also possesses an attacking threat and scored the opener against Manchester City.

Stewart Downing

Our final nominee is Stewart Downing, who has excelled since moving into a more central position this term. Playing at the tip of a midfield diamond, the No11 has provided fantastic support to the front men and was unlucky not to score at Burnley when he crashed a shot against the post.
