West Ham United fan and Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft has illustrated his knowledge of the game by winning the Fantasy Football Club Championship.
Croft's team, named Hammered, pipped former Manchester United and England full-back Gary Neville to the title, with Fantasy Football Club presenters Paul Merson and Fenners in third place.
Croft, who will jet off next weekend to commentate on the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, was delighted to win the prestigious prize, with video of the presentation shown on Fantasy Football Club on Sky Sports 1 on Friday 16 May.
A regular visitor to the Boleyn Ground with son Daniel when his work commitments allow, Croft was also happy to hold off the challenge of his fellow Formula 1 presenters, including Martin Brundle, Ted Kravitz, Anthony Davidson and Natalie Pinkham.
"I went into the final weekend of the season in second place with Gary Neville leading and Merse and Fenners, who gave me a bit of stick on the programme last week, in third," Croft explained. "Well, they finished third and I managed to overhaul Gary and won by 14 points.
"My team name is Hammered, hence I had to wear my West Ham shirt to pick up the award!"
"Now I'm off to Monaco with the trophy to celebrate with the rich and famous!
"While I am there, I am also hosting the Amber Lounge Charity Fashion show, in front of HRH Prince Albert and [Formula 1 President and CEO] Bernie Ecclestone. As a result, I have had a suit made for me by Apsley Tailors, who are also the official tailors for West Ham. They've not only made a suit for me, but also for the eight Formula 1 drivers appearing at the show including Max Chilton, Adrian Sutil and Jean Eric Vergne.
"If you win the title, you've got to look the part and I'll certainly be doing that!"
Croft will commentate on the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday 18 May, with live coverage on Sky Sports F1 starting at 11.30am.
