'We all follow the West Ham'

West Ham United draw fans from all over the world.

One such supporter attended his first-ever Hammers match at Goodison Park earlier this month, where he cheered on his heroes in their 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat by Everton.

Youngster Michael Hoetscher, who flew in from Munich in Germany to watch the game, joined the Claret and Blue Army after being given a surprise trip to England for his 18th birthday.

"I am a West Ham supporter because of my uncle, who went to England for eight years and he brought me back a jersey, so since I was ten-years-old I've been a West Ham fan," he told West Ham TV.

"I'm 18 now and I love the atmosphere here in England - not at Goodison Park, but at Upton Park where I have heard it is better!

"I also love the players and how West Ham play football - it's awesome."

While he loves the passion of English football, the teenager has also been impressed by the way his beloved Hammers have been performing this season.

"It's going OK. We had won our last four games and I hope we can win more, so I'm excited.

"This is my first game in England. In Germany we have holidays so I flew over on Friday to see the game. This is my first West Ham game and I've very excited. I can't believe it.

"This was my birthday present and I was so excited when I heard I was coming to the game. This is the best birthday present I've ever had.

"It's amazing for me. I have three West Ham jerseys at home, but I had to wear the pullover at Everton because it was a little bit cold, but I love it!"

While he may not be back again to see West Ham in the flesh this season, Hoetscher is hopeful the Hammers can continue their encouraging recent form in his absence.

"I am sure we can finish in the top ten. I really hope so.

"Maybe one day we will qualify for Europe and I can see them play against a team in Germany and I can travel there to the game.

"Of course, one day we can play Bayern Munich, especially if we play like we did in the four games in February. We can achieve it!"
