Classic match
West Ham United 5-1 Sheffield United
Division Two
19 January 1952
West Ham United's biggest win on this day came 62 years ago when Sheffield United were sunk by a five-star display at the Boleyn Ground.
Fresh from defeating Blackpool in the FA Cup, the Hammers followed that up with another victory, secured thanks to a hat-trick from Ken Tucker and two goals from Gerry Gazzard.
The two teams would face each other twice more early the following month after they were drawn together in the FA Cup.
On that occasion, the Blades prevailed 4-2 after a replay, after a 0-0 Boleyn Ground stalemate.
