Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham United
Premier League
14 January 2006
West Ham battled back from a goal down to see off Aston Villa and end a run of three Premier League defeats at Villa Park.
The Hammers fell behind when Lee Hendrie headed Jlloyd Samuel's cross past Roy Carroll in the visitors' goal with 27 minutes on the clock.
The away side found a response in the second half though and Bobby Zamora brought them level when he powered a header past Thomas Sorensen after 51 minutes.
A winner arrived through Marlon Harewood as the striker converted a penalty after Mark Delaney had been adjudged to have handled Hayden Mullins' shot. Harewood sent Sorensen the wrong way from the spot to give the Hammers all three points.
