Port Vale 0-1 West Ham United
FA Cup round three
13 January 1973

West Ham enjoyed cup success against Port Vale in 1973 after a hard fought victory over the then Division Three side.

The top-flight Hammers had Pat Holland to thank as the midfielder netted the only goal of the game to seal a passage through to the fourth round.

Holland's goal was one of only two he scored during the season and whilst ensuring progress for the Hammers, their run was ended in the next round when beaten by Hull City.
