Classic match

Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham United
First Division
7 February 1966

The Hammers were in the midst of a hectic season when they travelled to the Midlands to play Aston Villa in 1966.

The Club were involved on all fronts as they remained in the FA Cup, European Cup Winners Cup and had reached the final of the League Cup after demolishing Cardiff City 10-3 in the semi-final.

A 5-0 defeat to Leeds United just two days earlier did little to affect the visitors as goals from John Sissons and Geoff Hurst saw them get back to winning ways.
