ST.MARY'S STADIUM

TUESDAY 09 DECEMBER 2014
KICK-OFF: 7 PM
REFEREE: ADAM NUNN

FT: Southampton U18 2-1 West Ham United U18

FT: A great game determined by a fantastic goal by Slattery. The red card was a turning point but plenty of positives to take away for Steve Potts.
We'll have reaction for you very shortly.

93:
Parfitt-Williams does ever so well to get his cross in with Diangana lurking at the back post.

91: Bailey is going to lauch a free kick into the box...it's cleared away and Southampton will run the clock down.

90: A minimum of three minutes of added time has just been announced. Our commentator Moose has just awarded West Ham's Man of the Match to Josh Pask, a good choice.

89: Into the final stages here at St.Mary's. The U18s are doing all they can to force what would be a deserved equaliser. Last chance saloon here...

87: Jordan Brown has done well to burst into the box. He tries to pull it back but the cross is cut out. Jerry Amoo is replaced by Decarrey Sheriff.

86: Marcus Barnes is being replaced by Alfie Jones for Southampton.

84: A lot tired legs out on the field now. Just over five minutes for the U18s to find an equaliser.

82: Olufela Olomola is on for Josh Sims while Oscar Borg is replaced by Grady Diangana.

80: Reece Oxford is booked for showing his frustration after being penalised when the goalkeeper spilled a catch.

78: Stoppage in play as a Southampton defender is down with cramp, he's back on his feet and it's a West Ham corner.

77: The rain is really bucketing down now. To the Hammers' credit it is not obvious that they're a man light.

75: Jerry Amoo does well to reach a searching cross from Parfitt-Williams. His touch flashes just wide of the near post.

72: Steve Potts responds by bringing replacing Marcus Browne with Kieran Bailey.

70: Goal 2-1 to Southampton. Slattery winds up from 25, 30 yards and launches an unstoppable shot past Sam Howes. A fantastic hit from the 15-year-old.

69: The goalscorer Demkiv is replaced by Chris Regis.

67: Josh Sims curls a shot wide from distance. Sam Howes watches it go wide.

65: Good chance for the Hammers as they break down the left through Parfitt-Williams. The ball is cleared just before Brown can pounce. Marcus Browne goes close from a long range effort.

62:
Oscar Borg has gone back to left back since the red card, still no substitutes.

60: Another great chance for Pask who runs onto the ball on the edge of the box. He shoots but the shot is blocked well. A glorious chance for the Hammers there.

58: Jordan Brown fires a fierce shot but the defender blocks it well. Southampton have been on top since gaining the man advantage.

49: Red card for Manny Onariase as he tripped on the onrushing striker. He was the last man but it seems a harsh punishment for an honest tackle.

48: Pike drives forward from deep onto the edge of the area. He can't quite find the pass to Brown.

46: The players are back out for the second half. If it stays at 1-1, we'll gone into extra time! No substitutes from either side as of yet.

45: Just the one additional minute here. At least four minutes was lost through injury.

45: The referee is having a word with Marcus Browne telling him to calm down. Captain Reece Burke has a word in his ear.

44: Amoo has a chance to cross but he puts slightly too much on it and it goes out for a goal kick.

42: A chance for Souhampton as Marcus Barnes gets his head to a cross, Howes came for it but didn't get there. Thankfully the ball goes over the top of the bar.

40: The quality of football here has to be admired. Both teams are trying to play it from the back, the level of talent on show here really is impressive.

37: Armani Little almost recreates Jose Fonte's assist for Robin van Persie yesterday evening as he under hits a pass which Brown almost pounces on. Isted is out quicky to clear the danger.

35: Goal 1-1. Southampton equalise through Dan Demkiv as he takes Callum Slattery's inch-perfect through ball in his stride. He beats Pike ad Howes before finishing well.

33: Down the other end, the Saints look to break but Burke shows his class and intercepts, he had to make that and he did.

32: Great hold up play from Jordan Brown, his strength and awareness is proving to be a real handful. The ball just escapes his touch and the 'keeper collects.

31: The corner floats harmlessly out for goalkick.

28: Pike heads a corner away which sets Amoo free down the right wing. Adebayo recovers to clear the danger. Southampton have a free kick in a dangerous position... the wall does it's job and blocks it for a corner.

26: Burke intercepts and a pass and he's away. He's plays it out to Amoo. After a bit of trickery he gets the ball which is cleared just as Brown was about to double their lead. Great play from the Hammers.

24: The wind is really playing a factor so far. The ball is skidding across the turf while it's holding up in the air making it had to read.

22: Superb link up play between Jordan Brown and Djair Parfitt-Williams wins the Hammers a corner. Both have been in great form so far this season, Brown's return from injury is a big positive.

20: Pask, having scored one already, clearly wants more. He's shot twice from the edge of the area, both testing the 'keeper. Pask is clearly enjoying his role in midfield tonight.

17: A great chance for Jordon Brown as a defensive mix up between the goalkeeper Harry Isted and Niall Mason allows Brown to shoot from the edge the area. The shot is cleared off the line by Little!

14: We're now back under way here at St.Mary's, Southampton temporarily down to ten men.

14: There's a brief stoppage in play as Kyle Clinton receives treatment.

12: GOAL 1-0. Parfitt-Williams' corner swings in low into the six yard box, Josh Pask may have got a flick on at the near post. Either way it's in! 1-0.

10:
Corner to the Saints after Oxford's tackle goes out. It's cleared away at the third attempt.

8: Reece Burke goes into a 50/50 challenge, a collective wince from the crowd can be heard as he went in strongly.

6: The Saints are playing their traditional possession based football. Borg almost capitalises as they play it out from the back.

4: Dan Demkiv is quick and he beats the defender but Howes collects the cross easily.

2: The Saints are enjoying early territory but they play it out for a goal kick which Sam Howes lumps forward. West Ham playing are in their light blue strip tonight.

0: We're off! Saints win the toss and are kicking left to right. The Hammers win the ball back almost immediately. Reece Burke is captaining the side tonight.

Here we go! A huge game for every one of the 22 players out there. This cup has a prestigious and proud history, it's also the last chance for a number of players to play in this competition due to the age restrictions.

The players are in the tunnel and they're about to walk out onto the pich. Just over 24 hours since Southampton and Mnchester United played yesterday.

The Hammers have already beaten the Saints once this season, as they came from behind to win 3-2 in the league fixture earlier in the season.

Both teams have back into the dressing for some final words of wisdow. Just a reminder that tonight's game will go to extra time and penalties if it's even at full time.

Just 15 minutes to go until kick off! Let us know your thoughts on twitter here and use the hashtag #WHU18.

Both teams are out warming up in the swirling rain, hopefully the weather won't have to much of a bearing as we could be in for cracker of a match. The fans are beginning to stream in. Several Hammers' fans have made the journey down, fantastic commitment on a mid-week Champions League evening.
